Do I need a referral before visiting one of your therapists?

A referral is not required to make an appointment or get a consultation. We also welcome clients who are referred to us by their doctor or one of our existing clients.

What happens if the therapist and I don’t seem to be a good fit?

We take great pride in our commitment to helping others find the best fit for their needs and goals. That’s why we take as much time as necessary to get to know you and determine the best therapist and care plan for you. After our consultation, if we’re not a fit for you, we’ll do our best to refer you to other qualified professionals in the area. At the end of the day, your life journey matters—and it’s important for you to feel comfortable and well-served by your therapy team.

Neurofeedback

What is the process for getting neurofeedback?

Our first step in the process is a full hour to hour and a half intake session that can be conducted via telehealth or in person at a convenient time for you. At this session, we discuss the particulars of your case, take a detailed history, and then outline your goals. After the intake, we schedule a time for you to do a QEEG map of your brain to determine the areas that are functioning optimally as well as any areas that are struggling. We then sit down for a full hour follow-up session in which we go over your QEEG in detail and outline the treatment options we recommend moving forward. Once you decide to begin, we schedule twice weekly sessions.

How many neurofeedback sessions are needed?

Every brain is different, but we tell our clients to plan on 40 sessions of neurofeedback to see lasting results. Of course, the more complex the case, the more sessions are needed, but typically our clients do not need more than 40 to 60 at most. Before you begin neurofeedback, our team will spend a full hour with you reviewing your case, goals, and outlining the treatment plan, including an estimated number of sessions needed.

How often do I have to come?

We require a minimum of twice weekly sessions. Because neurofeedback is based on operant conditioning, the repetition of the feedback for the brain is critical in moving progress forward. We compare it to going to the gym once a month; doing less doesn’t hurt you, but it doesn’t move you forward toward your goals in the most expedient way possible.

Can I use my insurance?

We are credentialed with most major insurances with the exception of Soonercare, and we are able to bill your insurance directly, saving you the hassle of submitting superbills. Our office manager will check your individual insurance plan for coverage and give you options for treatment based on coverage. Most major insurances do not cover neurofeedback at this time, but we are happy to help you get the most out of your insurance coverage if at all possible.

Do you offer payment plans?

We allow our clients to pay for neurofeedback every ten sessions rather than requiring they purchase large packages of sessions. We also partner with Advance Care Card to offer no-interest payment plans to allow as many people to access neurofeedback as possible.

Will neurofeedback make me different or change my personality?

Neurofeedback doesn’t put any electrical signals INTO your brain. It simply senses what your brain is already doing and rewards it (with audio tones or a movie) for doing more of what it should be doing. As such, neurofeedback doesn’t change personality or increase IQ. It does, however, allow you to be your best self because when your brain is functioning optimally, the struggles that held you back don’t get in the way any longer.

Is neurofeedback research-based?

A large body of research is already available for neurofeedback, and more and more research is being conducted each year. We recommend you check out the International Society for Neuroregulation and Research for the most recent publications on neurofeedback efficacy.

Who is conducting the treatment sessions?

We have three master-degree level therapists who conduct all our sessions personally. We do not utilize technicians due to the complex nature of neurofeedback and the coaching and monitoring that is required for optimal results. All our therapists are either Board Certified in Neurofeedback or working toward this certification under the direction of Kristen Hale, Board Certified Neurofeedback Mentor and Owner/Clinic Director of Connect and Restore.

What ages do you treat?

We offer treatment to people of all ages, 4 and up. We believe everyone should be able to experience the life-changing power of neurofeedback!
