Meet Our Team

Julie Skidmore

LPC-Candidate

I was inspired to become a therapist after experiencing the healing effects of counseling within my own family, as well as for myself. I developed a deep desire to help others navigate stressful life events because it’s difficult to face these challenges alone. I am committed to coming alongside clients and taking this journey together with curiosity and compassion.

I pursued a degree in counseling after having spent 18 years working with children and teens in the education system. As a teacher, I saw first-hand issues specific to children, teens, and families. I have a passion for child, adolescent, and family therapy and I also highly value working with individuals. I seek to help clients strengthen connections because relationships are the foundation for positive change. I utilize aspects of Emotional-Focused Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). Strong emotions often drive behaviors, beliefs, and impact relationships. With my background in art education, I enjoy using art and other creative expressions to help clients process difficult emotions.

I am currently a Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate and a school counselor, having earned a Master of Science in Counseling degree in 2022 from Oklahoma State University. Previously, I earned a bachelor’s degree in art education from Oklahoma Baptist University.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband of 29 years and our kids, which includes adopted and biological children. We love our church and serving in various ministries. We also like to camp, hike, travel and play board games.
